The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends screening your child for orthodontic problems no later than age 7. Treatments are now available for children ages 6-9 years of age that provide significant benefit. Early treatment takes advantage of the growth and develeopment of a child's jaw bones to make further orthodontic treatment easier and shorter. Some common early treatment modalities include palatal expansion, space maintenance and habit control.
