These new generation archwires have a heat activated component that allows them to change flexibility based upon the temperature to which they are exposed. As a result, they move teeth more gently and gradually. Treatment times have become consistently shorter with the advent of heat activated archwires. To minimize soreness and reduce treatment time, Dr. Wilkinson incorporates heat activated archwires into her patient's orthodontic treatment.
